Fabio Buitrago graduated in Ecology and Natural Resources at Universidad Centroamericana de Nicaragua. He completed postgraduate studies in Costa Rica and at the University of Florida in regard to Wildlife Management, Project administration, and Ecology of marine mammals. He has over 20 years’ experience in projects and programs about conservation of natural resources. He conducted various research activities with marine mammals and has worked as an assistant for scientific research with endemic fish from crater lagoons.
He has coordinated the implementation of adequate management plans in several marine and terrestrial conservation areas. He’s also been part of the organization of several massive underwater cleaning campaigns. Fabio has a level of IDC STAFF INSTRUCTOR and TEC DEEP INSTRUCTOR, which allows him to certify almost all of the specialties offered by PADI, as well as TEC 40, TEC 45 and TEC 50 of TEC REC courses. He was a coordinator member of the technical team that developed studies for the construction of the first marine park in the pacific of Nicaragua (La Anciana), and also a member of the technical team in charge of the elaboration of the first map of the coral reef corridor in the pacific of Nicaragua. He has over 1000 logged dives, with a various mix of gases, decompression, Nitrox, Trimix, among others.
